I mean no disrespect about the title of this blog but after reading this I believe you will know what I am talking about....
For the first time in my life I am dubbed a Foreigner. In the words of Simon and Garfunkel I am surrounded by the sounds and smells as I walk down the streets in Gumi-city.
I just got back from a dinner party up in Daego where I had some fun and a lot of shock as well. First off, I am still not used to sitting on the ground as I eat. My legs were cramping a lot of the time.
I am still not used to Korean hard alcohol and tried to avoid drinking it as much as possible. Even though its rude. Apparently, there were a lot of famous korean people there so it was of the utmost importance to have a shot with them.
I met some wonderful kids that I wish I could take back to my Language Academy. One girl held my hand and we got a picture together. Her mom will send it to me sometime. I honestly think that there are many cute Asian children here. They call me Teacher Teacher in my class.
Later that night I ended up sharing a sleeping quarters with a Korean Child. In America its improper to share a room with a child that is not yours. But this is Korea-you are either family or no one. It wasnt the greatest of nights. I slept well even though it was only 5 hours and in my contacts but my new life is still taking some time to adjust too. I had to take care of her once she woke up scared ans was crying but she went right back to sleep after I consuled her. She was really nice to me the next day.
On the way home some kids were pointing at me because I am exotic and a foreigner. If you are a native dont make fun of foreign people its not very becoming.
So here I am back in my Internet cafe until i have internet....Its lunch time and I think I should go make a phone call.
I am sure that there is more that I could tell you but until next time this is the TEACHER signing out.
